YOUR GRANDFATHER SOUNDS AWESOME this is exactly my argument. But everyone tells me “easy for you to say when you’re safe BECAUSE those have given their lives” and what can I say to that? It’s still a glorification of licensed murder.

Yes “licensed murder” is the term I was trying to think of, damn late night rants. Everyone I talked to at uni today asked me if I was going to the dawn service and I just said “fuck no,” to which they said “well at least you should take a minute silence to remember who died for your public holiday.” Excuse me I didn’t ask for the public holiday and I have Wednesdays off anyway so ner ner.
I really wish I could’ve met my grandfather, from the stories I’ve heard of him he was a top bloke. He used to comb his hair and straighten his tie before answering the phone and my mum would laugh and tell him that no one can see him to which he would reply, “They’ll be able to one day, just you watch!” Unfortunately he didn’t ever get to see the day where he said, “I told you so!”
